Another lawsuit over Arizona's medical marijuana programPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Another legal battle is heating up over the state's medical marijuana law.
Arizona attorneys have filed a lawsuit demanding the State Health Department accept applications from potential dispensary owners.
That was supposed to start happening June 1, but health officials refused after the state filed a lawsuit against the federal government over the legality of the program.
"The ultimate goal here is to require the dept of health services to publish the application they set forth and say they will accept and consider the applications," said Ken Frakes from the Rose Law Group.
Attorneys say right now the only option is for patients to grow medical marijuana on their own or rely on others to grow it in their homes.
