Ethnic Studies supporters meets with Superintendent PediconePosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- A group fighting any changes to TUSD's Ethnic Studies program met with the district's superintendent Tuesday.
The group Unidos says Dr. John Pedicone tells them he supports Ethnic Studies. But in their view, he's not showing them that support.
Unidos opposes a compromise of making Ethnic Studies an elective rather than required course.
"We're always going to keep fighting for the classes to stay how they are. Because we can't really have them changed to electives. that's still a possibility that's lingering. we want to make sure that's not a possibility at all. And we want to make sure our director keeps his job as well," said Daniel Montoya from Unidos.
The Unidos members say they will continue to protest.
