Multiple arrests made in drug trafficking investigationPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office arrested nearly two dozen people following a year-long investigation.
The sheriff's office investigated drug trafficking organizations responsible for the distribution of thousands of pounds of marijuana throughout various locations in the United States.
Twenty-three people were arrested after 13 search warrants were executed. Seven were served in the Phoenix metro area, two in Pinal County and one each in New York, Cleveland, Minneapolis and Los Angeles.
MCSO seized stolen handguns, 1,000 pounds of marijuana and more than $1 million in cash during their investigation. They also seized 17 vehicles and froze numerous bank accounts.
Those arrested face charges of possession of marijuana, conspiracy to distribute and money laundering.
