DOUGLAS, Ariz. – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seized nearly 300 pounds of marijuana concealed in a case of ceramic tile.
On Friday, a 63-year-old Tonopah man driving a pickup truck attempted to enter the United States through a Douglas Port vehicle lane. He was referred for a secondary inspection after officers observed nervous behavior.
During a more intensive inspection, officers discovered 28 packages of marijuana concealed in boxes of hollowed-out ceramic tile.
The marijuana had an estimated street value of $150,000.
The officers seized the vehicle and narcotics.
The man was taken into custody and turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
