First victim becomes focus in 'Baseline Killer' trialPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX (AP) - The trial of a man accused of killing nine people in the Phoenix area continues this week, focusing on the first murder linked to the so-called Baseline Killer case.
About 20 people, including police detectives and ballistics experts, are expected to testify this week in the trial of Mark Goudeau.
Goudeau is charged with the nine murders and dozens of other crimes, including rape and child molestation. The 46-year-old former construction worker has pleaded not guilty.
This week's testimony will focus on the killing of 19-year-old Georgia Thompson, who lived in Tempe and worked as a stripper in Scottsdale.
She was shot in the head outside her apartment on Sept. 8, 2005.
Goudeau's trial is expected to last nine months. He already is serving a 438-year prison sentence after being convicted in the rapes of two sisters in 2007.
