PHOENIX – Three people were arrested after what police are calling a staged armed robbery at a payday loan store in Phoenix.
Officers responded to a report of an armed robbery Sunday at about 4:30 a.m. at the PLS Pay Day Loan store located in the 4200 block of W. Bethany Home Road.
Detectives say the clerk, identified as Lincoln Knight, was acting strangely during questioning and tried to leave the store several times.
Police say Knight lied about her address and eventually confessed to a staged armed robbery involving her boyfriend, Jeremy Parker, and his mother, Simone Parker. The mother was allegedly driving the “getaway car.”
Knight reportedly told police the three arranged the plan and were able to take more than $37,000.
Both Parker and his mother were located and taken into custody. They too allegedly confessed to the scheme.
A search warrant was served at the suspects’ homes and police recovered money, a toy gun and other items that are being considered evidence in this case.
All three individuals face armed robbery, theft and conspiracy to commit armed robbery.
