PHOENIX – A 49-year-old man turned himself in to police Sunday night after allegedly stabbing another man in Phoenix.

Gilbert Armenta was booked on second-degree murder charges.

Phoenix police Sgt. Trent Crump said Armenta got into an argument with Richard Diaz, 44, near Roosevelt and 24th Street Sunday afternoon.

The argument escalated into a fight and Diaz was stabbed. He died from his injuries.

Crump said Armenta learned the victim's injuries were fatal after seeing media coverage and turned himself in at police headquarters.

There is no word on what led to the argument.
