Tucson neighborhood gets cell tower decisionPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- A controversial proposed AT&T cell phone tower is on hold for now.
Neighbors had expressed frustration that the 68 ft. tower would be built in the historic Indian Ridge Estates neighborhood.
Tuesday council members asked city staff to work with AT&T to find an alternate location.
It was welcome news for neighbors who came out to City Hall.
"There's quite a few comericial areas that would be very appropriate to having a tower of this and equipment associated with it. But the front of a neighborhood definitely isn't that place," said Mark Taylor from the Indian Ridge Neighborhood Association.
The neighborhood association also turned in 550 signatures urging council to move the tower location.
