Missing teen mom found safePosted: Updated:
PHOENIX - An 18-year-old Phoenix mom who had been missing since May 27 has been found safe.
Kristian Faith Stout, who also goes by Kristian Ward, was last seen at Paradise Valley Mall while picking up her paycheck at a new job.
She did not take any of her belongings when she left home and failed to return.
Police say Stout has a 2-year-old son who has been staying with his grandparents. Stout's parents said they were very worried and said their daughter's behavior was out of character.
Kristian moved to Phoenix from Florida along with her parents and her 2-year-old son, Tyler.
She had only lived here a few weeks and had very few friends outside of the clothing store where she worked and was last seen picking up her first paycheck around noon.
She was scheduled to work later that afternoon but never showed up.
“I received one text from her that said when she'd be home,” her mom Robin Ward said. But her phone has been dead since and I haven't gotten in touch with her since then.”
“The fact she walked away from a 2-year-old is uncharacteristic of her, according to the parents and so is the fact she didn't take any belongs with her,” Phoenix Police Sgt. Trent Crump said. “We look at all those things.”
Police said there was no foul play and her disappearance was voluntary.
“When somebody doesn't want to be found and they're an adult there's only so much you can do,” said Crump. Police have to consider, ‘Is this what this adult is wanting to do on her own or has she been forced into something?’ Crump said. “That's what we’re trying to figure out.”
