Police looking for driver who ran over motorcyclist in fatal crashPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX – Police are looking for a driver who detectives believe ran over a motorcyclist who was on the ground.
Phoenix officers responded to the 2800 block of north 32nd Street in reference to an injury collision Friday just before 11 a.m.
At first officers believed it was a single vehicle collision. It appears the motorcyclist was traveling southbound on 32nd Street on a 2007 Kawasaki when he lost control of his bike and went down south of Thomas Road.
The motorcyclist, identified as 23-year-old Ronald Edwin Mercer, was not wearing a helmet and died at the scene.
Investigators later determined Mercer had been run over by a car after he went down. Detectives do not yet have information on the driver or vehicle involved.
