Justin Upton's 9th-inning hit gives Arizona winPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX (AP) -- Justin Upton's bloop single to right field with two outs in the bottom of the ninth drove in the winning run in the Arizona Diamondbacks' 6-5 win over the Florida Marlins on Wednesday night.
Willie Bloomquist led off the ninth against Clay Hensley (0-2) with an infield single. Hensley struck out pinch-hitter Sean Burroughs then left with what appeared to be a shoulder injury. Burke Badenhop relieved and Bloomquist hustled to third base on a groundout by Ryan Roberts.
After a walk, Upton ended the game with his hit.
John Buck's solo home run in the top of the ninth tied the game at 5 and ended Diamondbacks closer J.J. Putz's (puts's) franchise record for consecutive saves at 16.
