PHOENIX (AP) -- One motorcyclist is dead and another seriously injured after a crash in west Phoenix.

Police have not released the name of the 45-year-old man who died at the scene of Friday night's accident.

The 45-year-old male rider of the other motorcycle is reported to be in critical but stable condition at a Phoenix-area hospital.

Police say neither one of the men was wearing helmets.

They say the driver of a car was leaving the Desert Sky Mall about 11 p.m. and failed to yield and collided with one of the motorcyclist.

The other motorcyclist swerved to avoid the crash, struck a median and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the female car driver wasn't impaired at the time of the accident and escaped injury. No charges have been filed.
