Community tip leads to arrest of shooting suspect

EL MIRAGE, Ariz. - An anonymous tip from the community leads police to the whereabouts of suspect in an aggravated assault.

On May 25, El Mirage police responded to a shooting at the Casa Mirage Apartments at Thunderbird and El Mirage roads. The victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to the hospital.

Detectives identified the shooting suspect as Nicholas Yeargin, 21.

Investigators and the U.S. Marshall's Task Force received an anonymous tip on the whereabouts of Yeargin and was arrested without incident near 129th Avenue and West Cactus Road.

Yeargin was subsequently transported and booked into the 4th Avenue jail for aggravated assault.

“Two high profile crimes have been closed in recent weeks due to the assistance of our community,” Detective Robert Peoples of the El Mirage Police Department stated.  “This is another example of citizens and law enforcement working together to make our city safe.”
