Wet 'n' Wild opens new ride, promises holiday fun

PHOENIX -- With triple digit temperatures upon us, Wet 'n Wild in Phoenix couldn’t have opened up for the summer at a better time.

Just in time for the long Memorial Day weekend, Wet 'n' Wild is opening a new ride that's exclusive to the Phoenix water park. It's called the Constrictor and it's an enclosed flume ride with tight corkscrew turns that snake back and forth in a series of spirals, ending in a splashdown.

Wet 'n' Wild promises it's a one-of-a-kind experience.

The humongous water park opened up officially for the summer on Thursday. Friday morning, the doors opened to a long line of water slide-hungry kids at 10 a.m.

The folks at Wet ‘n Wild are hoping you will visit over the Memorial Day Weekend for family fun all day and all night long. In addition to the slides and attractions, the park will display fireworks on Saturday May 28 and Sunday May 29, beginning at 9:30 p.m., and host an all-you-can-eat barbecue 7 p.m.-9 p.m.

The barbecue will include grilled barbecued chicken and hot dogs, green salad, Western-style beans, corn on the cob, sliced watermelon and beverages.

The firework shows are free with park admission. Barbecue meal tickets are just $9.99 plus tax for all Gold Season Pass and Season Pass holders; $9.99 plus tax for ages 3-11; and $11.99 ages 12 and up.

3TV got a first-hand look at the Constrictor, as well as some of the other rides and attractions.
