Silent Witness looking to solve to cases where veterans were killed

PHOENIX - Silent Witness is offering rewards in two unsolved cases where veterans lost their lives heading into Memorial Day weekend.

On Sunday, November 2, 2008 a black Ford pick-up truck occupied by several Hispanic males, struck and killed Brandon Kusmit, 25.

Kusmit, a veteran of the 2003 Iraq war, was riding his motorcycle when he was struck near the intersection of 37th Street and Greenway Road by the suspect vehicle.

Police have recovered the pick-up truck, but still need the public's assistance in identifying and locating the driver. The driver is believed to be named, Alfonso.

Another veteran of the Iraq war was killed on August 7, 2010 and his crime has yet to be solved.

Between 5 a.m. and 8:25 a.m. Sgt. Karl Markovic was killed in the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation parking lot near McDowell Road and 52nd Street. Markovic was supposed to report for a weekend drill at 5:30 a.m., but never arrived.

He body was found around 8:30 a.m. at the south end of the park property.
