Dustin Hoffman and Jack Black - 'Kung Fu Panda 2'Posted: Updated:
PHOENIX – The big movie opening this weekend, “The Hangover Part II,” is sure to be funny, but it’s not even close to family friendly.
If you’re looking for a movie you can take the kids to this holiday weekend, there’s a bit of counter-programming in another sequel – “Kung Fu Panda 2.”
There’s a lot more kung fu in this chapter of the story, once again featuring Po and the Dragon Warriors. This movie has a coming-of-age feel to it with Master Shifu, voiced by the legendary Dustin Hoffman, sending Po, voiced by Jack Black, on a special mission.
Hoffman and Black even had the opportunity to record some of their scenes together, which is relatively rare when it comes to animated films. They agreed that being able to play off each made a big difference in the final cut.
“That scene, they were having trouble getting the intensity right. They just needed us to come in together,” Black said.
“When we’re able to just interact like we do in life – if it’s an emotional scene – it’s a lot easier than having to pretend that you’re interacting,” Hoffman explained.
“Kung Fu Panda 2” is showing now in both 2D and 3D. The movie is rated PG for kung fu action.
