ADEQ issues ozone advisory for Phoenix areaPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX (AP) -- A high pollution advisory for ozone is in effect Thursday for the Phoenix area.
The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality says warming temperatures and cloudless skies are expected to increase ozone at ground level and it will possibly exceed the federal health standard.
Maricopa County officials have issued no-burn restrictions through midnight Thursday.
State officials recommend that children and adults with respiratory problems avoid outdoor activities on Thursday. They also suggest that the general public limit outdoor activity throughout the day.
Other recommended steps include cutting down on automobile trips and avoiding use of drive-through lines and leaf blowers.
