Diamond Children's Center gets generous dontaion for cancer researchPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Kids aren't old enough to drive but that didn't mean they couldn't have fun with a car Tuesday.
Thanks to Hyundai and Jim Click, happier days could be headed to cancer stricken youngsters and Diamond's Children Center.
In front of the Diamond Children's Center at UMC Tuesday morning, the Steele Children's Research Center received a check from Hyundai's Hope on Wheels.
"This is one hospital out of 50 that will be receiving grants this year as part of the Hyundai hope on wheels program," said Derrick Hatami from Hyundai Hope on Wheels.
With an amount of $50,000, the Hyundai group donated the money for research projects to help pediatricians.
"I hope that this grant will help us learn more and do better for children," said Dr. Puja Gupta from Diamond Children's Center.
And to continue that effort, Jim Click, who owns 3 Hyundai dealerships in Tucson matched the donation, bringing the dollar number to $100,000 donated to the hospital.
"This is not the first time Hyundai has recognized our hospital and you Dr. Coshone and the Steele Research Center," said Tucson businessman Jim Click. "We want you to know how much we appreciate you all and what you're doing for these kids."
Then patients were able to participate as well, plastering their hand prints on an SUV to remember the day.
"All of this is just for one purpose and one purpose only and that purpose is to really advance the knowledge and making sure our kids get the best care possible."
