PHOENIX (AP) -- U.S. Jon Kyl has rejected the Fiesta Bowl's request to return campaign contributions, saying he'll give the $3,000 to a charity instead.
Kyl sent a caustic letter to the bowl's lawyer calling the return of the money inappropriate since the Fiesta Bowl had admitted improper conduct.
The letter on "Jon Kyl for U.S. Senate" letterhead was provided to The Associated Press late Monday.
The bowl's lawyer declined comment Tuesday.
A recent Fiesta Bowl report detailed reimbursements to employees for political donations in apparent violation of federal and state laws.
