Pair of drownings in Southern ArizonaPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- A pool party Monday on the northwest side took a terrible turn when a 6-year-old girl slipped under the water and later died.
It happened at a community pool in the Moondance Estates neighborhood near Cortaro Road and Shannon.
Rural Metro firefighters arrived to find bystanders performing CPR, but the child couldn't be revived.
The sheriff's department does not plan to file any charges.
And there was a drowning late Friday night at Patagonia Lake.
A 22-year-old man from Willcox jumped in to retrieve an inflatable canoe drifting away.
The group saw Mark Aguilar gasping for air, then couldn't find him.
A ranger found Aguilar's body a couple hours later.
