2 Injured in early morning house fire in ScottsdalePosted: Updated:
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Two women were injured in an early morning house fire in Scottsdale.
Fire crews were called out to a neighborhood near Hayden at Thomas roads for a reported vehicle fire at about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday.
It’s not clear exactly what sparked the fire, but crews believe it started in a truck and spread quickly to the house from there.
The flames were so intense that they melted the siding on the home next door.
Crews said there was so much stuff inside the house that it made it difficult for them to get in and fight the fire.
Firefighters were able to keep the flames from spreading and contain the bulk of the damage to the front portion of the burning home. That damage, however, was extensive.
The woman who lives in the home suffered burns to her arms.
The second woman, a neighbor, either tripped and fell or passed out while she was evacuating her own home. She also reportedly was having some difficulty breathing, although emergency crews do not think that's related to smoke from the fire.
Both women were taken to local hospitals. They are expected to recover.
No other injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
