Boy found in pool after lengthy search around complexPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX – A 5-year-old boy died after being found in an apartment complex pool Saturday evening.
The search began at around 6 p.m. for 5-year-old Gecari Carrol at his apartment complex near Bethany Home Road and Interstate 17.
His mother reported him missing after his older siblings were unsuccessful in locating him.
According to the family, the kids were playing in and around the pool before they had to be home. Many of the apartment residents, police officers and FBI agents searched for the boy.
The pool was even searched a couple of times but due to the murky the water, they could not see all the way to the bottom.
About five hours later, the boy’s body was found in the deep end of the pool. Gecari was pronounced dead at the hospital.
It is unknown how long Gecari was under water. Phoenix police do not suspect foul play was involved and are calling this child’s death accidental.
This marks the seventh child drowning so far this year, with 17 drownings overall.
