YUMA, Ariz. (AP) -- Firefighters working in southwest Arizona are making progress on a wildfire burning along the Colorado River north of Yuma.
The Bureau of Land Management said Friday the Laguna fire is now 50 percent contained after burning an estimated 400 acres.
BLM expects full containment by Monday.
Crews plan to spend their Friday focusing on continued water drops using helicopters and fire boats pumping water directly on the flames.
Some 50 firefighters worked Thursday night securing the southern end of the fire and putting out flare-ups on the California side.
The fire continues burning salt cedars along the river.
