PHOENIX (AP) -- The Arizona Diamondbacks reinstated infielder Willie Bloomquist from the 15-day disabled list Wednesday and called up infielder Sean Burroughs from Triple-A Reno.
Bloomquist missed 21 games with a strained right hamstring. He hit .306 with seven RBIs in 14 games before getting hurt.
The 30-year-old Burroughs was hitting .386 with 15 RBIs in 27 games in the minors. He signed as a free agent in November after being out of pro baseball since June 2007.
He played parts of five major league seasons with San Diego and Tampa Bay.
Bloomquist and Burroughs take the roster spots of pitcher Armando Galarraga and infielder Melvin Mora.
Galarraga was designated for assignment Tuesday night after going 3-4 with a 5.91 ERA in eight starts.
Mora went on the bereavement list.
