Lawyers will not question Loughner doctorsPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- The psychologist and psychiatrist who examined January 8 shooting suspect Jared Loughner will not be called to testify.
The lawyers for each side are telling the doctors who evaluated Loughner in Missouri that they do not need to come to Tucson for his May 25 competency hearing.
Neither the prosecution nor the defense plans to dispute the findings from the doctors whether they believe Loughner is competent to stand trial.
Ultimately Judge Larry Burns will decide whether Loughner is competent to stand trial, and that ruling pertains to Loughner's current state of mind, not his state of mind the day of the shootings.
