Tucson AIDS vigilPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Tucsonans joined people from around the world Sunday to remember those who have lost their lives to AIDS.
Dozens gathered at Himmel Park for the 28th Annual International AIDS Candlelight Memorial.
The goal is to honor those affected by the disease as well as educate people. This year's theme was, "Touching Lives." Participants got to check out all sorts of aids quilt panels and listen to speakers about how the pandemic has impacted them.
"It's a great learning tool, it brings attention to the fact that this disease is still very deadly and it's something we need to teach our young children about,"
There are an estimated 33 million people worldwide living with HIV.
