TUSD approves layoffsPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Layoffs are on the way for the Tucson Unified School District.
The board voted Tuesday night to lay off 108 employees next year, including teachers, counselors and librarians.
More than a third will come from Palo Verde and Rincon High Schools, because they are in a turnaround program where staffers must reapply for their jobs.
The board voted 3 to 2 in favor of the layoffs.
