Arrests made following Phoenix weekend homicide

PHOENIX, Ariz. – Two people have been arrested in connection to a homicide that took place in the early morning hours of Saturday in Phoenix.

Police say the 30-year-old victim, whose identity has not been released, was found murdered inside his garage in the 900 block of N. 40th Avenue.

Joe Angel Villareal, 32, was taken into custody this week and faces one count of first-degree murder, two counts of armed robbery with a deadly weapon and one count of possession of a weapon for prohibited person.

Also arrested was Juanita Portillo, a woman with whom Villareal lives with. She also faces first-degree murder.

Investigators say they have very little information to go on at this time and urge the public to come forward if they have any information on the homicide.
