Person hit, killed while working on stalled car in GlendalePosted: Updated:
GLENDALE, Ariz. – One person was killed in a car wreck in Glendale. It happened at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday near 59th Avenue and Thunderbird Road.
According to police, the victim was working on a car that apparently had stalled in the road. That person, whose name has not been released, was hit by another car. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
It’s not clear if the stalled car’s lights were on or if its hazards were blinking at the time of the wreck.
While the accident is under investigation, police believe the driver who hit the victim simply did not see the person.
Officers said this was not a hit-and-run wreck. The driver of the other vehicle stopped and stayed at the scene.
No citations have been issued at this point.
Thursday night’s deadly wreck serves as a safety reminder to other drivers. If car trouble forces you off the road, be sure to pull as far as you can out of traffic’s way. Also, be sure your emergency flashers are on, and if you can, wait for roadside assistance to come and help you.
