PCSO to host memorial for fallen officersPosted: Updated:
FLORENCE, Ariz. -- The Pinal County Law Enforcement Association (PCLEA) is hosting its Annual Peace Officers Memorial Service Thursday event.
Javier Soto talked to Chief Deputy Steve Henry of the Pinal County Sheriff's Office about the event.
"This is a very solemn but important occasion for us here in Pinal County," Henry said. "We have 33 names on our wall. We hope to never add one again, but unfortunately with the nature of our business, that does occur."
One name -- Agent Michael Vincent Gallagher -- will actually be added to the wall during tonight's ceremony. Gallagher was on duty when he was killed by a DUI driver in September 2010, Henry explained. Gallagher's sister will be a speaker at the event.
"This [ceremony] is for our families," Henry said. "If you come tonight, you'll see that yes, there will be many police officers here, but more than that, there will be husbands and wives and children."
