Arizona looking for Goldwater statue for CapitolPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX (AP) -- The state is looking to buy something a little bit out of the ordinary -- a statue of Barry Goldwater.
The Arizona Historical Advisory Commission has issued a request for proposals to create a Goldwater statue to be placed in the National Statuary Hall of the U.S. Capitol.
The Goldwater statue will be one of two statues representing individuals from Arizona.
In government-speak, the state says it is looking for a "commemorative, site-specific sculpture" of the former senator and 1964 Republican presidential nominee. It will be purchased with donated money.
The seven-page procurement notice can be found online with the State Procurement Office at spo.az.gov.
