Heart walk in TucsonPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Thousands took to Reid Park to participate in the American Heart Association's signature event, the Annual Heart and Stroke Walk.
The 5k family fitness event is designed to help the community stand up against america's number-one and number-three killers, heart disease and stroke.
They also want to make tucson a healthier place.
"Like with children we need to set a good example for them and showing the community coming out and getting away from the tv and getting out getting healthy, so kids can lead longer healthier lives," said Heart Walk Director Amy Biggs.
According to the American Heart Association, one in five Arizonans is living with some form of heart disease or have suffered a stroke.
