PHOENIX – A 14-year-old girl who had been reported missing Friday night has been located.
Officers say Lovette Claroque had simply run away and was found unharmed at about 3 a.m. Saturday.
Her family told police she was expected to be home from Rosa Linda School at about 3 p.m. Friday but never arrived.
Family looked for the girl for about five hours before calling police at about 8 p.m. A search was conducted in the area of 14th Street and Roeser in central Phoenix.
At least 60 detectives combed the area, knocking on doors and checking on vacant houses. The Phoenix police helicopter as well as K-9 units were also on scene.
The response was escalated because of a serial rapist whom police are looking for in the area.
On Monday, a man allegedly kidnapped a 17 year old girl on as she was walking to South Mountain High School. Police say he then assaulted her in a vacant home, and that behavior is consistent with two other assaults that happened in the area the last 6 months.
