Cool and windy weekend in ArizonaPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX – We’ve seen rather windy conditions around our state as Red Flag Warnings continued for much of Arizona.
On Friday afternoon the peak wind gust recorded in the state were 52 miles per hour at both St. Johns and Show Low in eastern Arizona.
In the Valley, the peak wind gust we’ve seen is 34 miles per hour at both Deer Valley Airport and Chandler Airport.
The wind is ushering in some unseasonably cool air. For the Valley, that means we’ll see a high of around 80 degrees on Saturday and only in the upper-70s on Sunday.
In the high country, it’s going to be rather chilly. Highs this weekend are going to be in the 40s and 50s while overnight lows will be in the teens and 20s.
For those of you who like it warm, that’s coming too. A ridge of high pressure is forecast to build into the state beginning early next week.
Our models are telling us we’ll see highs in the upper 90s by the end of next week, perhaps we’ll get to 100 degrees.
