Windy weather coming ... againPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- A windy storm system is moving toward Arizona. Today, look for warmer temperatures and fairly calm conditions under a building ridge of high pressure.
The Valley is expected to top out in the mid-90s this afternoon under sunny skies. Look for clear skies tonight and mild temperates only dropping to the 60s.
Tomorrow, a trough of low pressure moves through the western U.S., bringing windy conditions that could last through much of the weekend. The cold front associated with the system will swing through Arizona, but no rain is expected.
Strong southwest winds will begin to gust late tomorrow morning and into the afternoon.
A red flag warning is in effect for almost the entire state from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. Friday. Winds can be expected to gust up to 45 mph in the Valley, and could be even stronger in the high country. At the same time, relative humidities will drop to less than 15 percent, meaning fire danger will be high across the state.
Once the storm passes, temperatures will drop off a bit, bringing weekend highs only in the 80s. Breezy weather, however, will continue through Saturday.
