Surprise man accused of sexually assaulting 2 girls
Edward Deluna By Jennifer Thomas
SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Surprise police officers arrested a 30-year-old man for allegedly sexually abusing two girls while they were in his care.
The alleged sexual conduct occurred in 2009 while the victims, ages 12 and 13, were in the custody or care of Edward Deluna and his wife at their home in Surprise, according to Surprise police Sgt. Mark Ortega.
In March, the girls, who are now in the custody of their biological mother in Texas, told their mother and grandmother about the abuse.
After an investigation, Deluna was taken into custody on Tuesday. He was charged with eight counts of child sexual abuse and 10 counts of sexual conduct with a minor.
Deluna was booked into the Maricopa County Jail.
Police did not say what the relationship was between Deluna and the victims or why they were in his care.
