Giffords named among most influential people

Before she was shot on that tragic January day in Tucson, Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords probably wasn't well known outside of Southern Arizona.

Now she's one of the most influential people in the world. That's according to time magazine, which named her to its annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world.

President Barack Obama, who is also on the list, wrote the tribute in the magazine for Giffords, saying:

"The reason she has long been admired by people of all political stripes is that she embodies the best of what public service should be: hard work and fair play, hope and resilience, a willingness to listen and a determination to do your best in a busy world."
