Minister shoots himself as police serve search warrant

CHANDLER, Ariz. - A suspect in connection to an investigation into the luring of a minor online, shot himself before police could take him into custody.

Nicholas William Minerva, a 52-year-old Tempe resident, shot himself while a search warrant was being served at the church where he was a minister.

According to Chandler police, Minerva was being investigated after he communicated with what he believed was a 14-year-old girl in an Internet chat room.

The communications first started in July 2010 and lasted through Thursday when police served the search warrant.

During the chats Minerva has inappropriate conversations and at one point through web cam he exposed his genitalia.
