Bruce Haffner goes for a loop and roll aboard the Red Bull Aerobatic Helicopter

PHOENIX -- Helicopter pilot Bruce Haffner has flow in fighter jets with the Air Force Thunderbirds and the Navy Blue Angels.

Those pilots specialize in gravity-defying maneuvers in planes that are designed to do incredible things, stunts no helicopter can perform. Except for one.

Recently Haffner was able to take the ride of his life with pilot Chuck Aaron aboard the Red Bull Aerobatic Helicopter.

Aaron is the only civilian pilot in the U.S. licensed to fly aerobatic maneuvers in a helicopter. He's actually one of only three people in the entire world permitted to perform the extremely dangerous maneuvers, and the things he can do, including loops and 360-degree rolls, are thrilling to watch, even more so to experience.

A pilot since he was 20, Aaron has logged more than 18,000 hours in the air. He debuted his aerobatics with the Red Bull Helicopter in 2006. Since then, he has taken the Red Bull Aerobatic Helicopter up for more that 125 air shows throughout the country.

Aaron is the first helicopter to receive the Art Scholl Showmanship Award from the International Council of Air Shows. The award was created to recognize the most outstanding air-show performers in the world.
