SUN CITY WEST, Ariz. -- The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help to find a driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run Monday afternoon.

According to sheriff's office spokesman Justin Griffin, a sport utility vehicle hit a golf cart at the intersection of Tanglewood and Yosemite drives in Sun City West shortly after 1 p.m.

The SUV fled the scene.

The golf cart driver was transported to a local hospital where he died Tuesday morning. He has been identified as Leonard Gabbo, 85.

Witnesses described the suspect vehicle as a red or maroon Jeep Cherokee or Grand Cherokee with a partial registration plate starting with "AH." Griffin said there will be minor damage to the driver's side.

The suspect is possibly a 20- to 30-year-old Hispanic male with a crew-cut hairstyle.

Anyone with information should contact the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office at 602-876-1011 or 602-876-2440.
