AHS Pet of the Week -- Chance

Posted: Updated:

PHOENIX -- Being the affectionate, outgoing and trusting kitty that he is, Chance didn’t think twice as he eagerly skipped over to the group of kids who lured him with a friendly voice. Little did he know that he would soon become a victim of animal cruelty in its worst form.

As part of an April fools joke, the kids proceeded to pour gasoline on the handsome tabby cat and in moments Chance was engulfed in flames. A concerned Good Samaritan spotted Chance and extinguished the flames while she watched as the kids run out of sight. More concerned for Chance’s life she decided to rush him to AHS instead of chase after the ruthless kids.

Chance was in critical condition, but his burns were attended to in the Second Chance Animal Hospital and after spending some time in a foster home, Chance has made a full recovery.

He hopes that he will never again find himself outdoors, and instead indulge in the life of a pampered housecat. He is extremely sweet and this love-bug will curl up on a lap and soak up chin scratches for hours if his owner is willing. When he isn’t snuggling, he likes to play and he will leap in the air to catch a soaring toy mouse with his velvet paws. At the end of the day he is happy to curl up on the pillow next to his owners and show off his thundering purr until he falls asleep.

He is great with kids of all ages but hasn’t been around other pets and will need a slow introduction to the four-legged roommates in his new home.

He is waiting for his new family NOW at the Arizona Humane Society’s Sunnyslope facility located at 9226 North 13th Avenue in Phoenix. His adoption fee is $50. This adoption fee includes his neuter surgery, vaccines, a colorful collar with an AHS I.D. tag and a follow-up veterinary exam.
