AHCCCS patient doing well after transplant at Tucson hospital

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Tiffani Tate was going to be denied transplant coverage until Governor Jan Brewer changed her mind on cuts to AHCCCS, the state health care program.  Her uncle says everything went well and she's beginning her recovery.

"The surgeon came out and told us that  the lungs were a perfect fit for Tiffani and they couldn't be more perfect so she for the first time since she was an infant she is breathing at a 100% lung capacity," said Tate's uncle Rick Berry.

The transplant took place yesterday at University Medical Center.  She is the first person to have a transplant paid for by AHCCCS, since the cuts were overturned.
