Mesa police seek suspect in gas station robbery

MESA, Ariz. -- Police are searching for a suspect who robbed a Mesa gas station Thursday afternoon.

According to the Mesa Police Department, a man approached a clerk inside the Shell gas station at Val Vista and University drives at approximately 2:15 p.m.

The man displayed a handgun and demanded money from the register. After obtaining the cash, the suspect reportedly pointed the gun at a second employee who came out from the back of the store to see what was happening.

The suspect then fled on foot and police have not located him.

The suspect is described a white male in his early 20s, 5 feet 10 inches tall and 130 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white ball cap, a blue long-sleeved shirt, black pants or long shorts and tennis shoes.
