PHOENIX -- If you like tortas -- really, really like tortas -- then Yetta Gibson has a contest you'll love.

La Tolteca is hosting the torta-eating contest, but the prize-worthy meal isn't any ordinary single-serving torta. It's not even an extra-large, hungry-man, take-home-leftovers torta. This torta is a 5-pound behemoth. Yes, you read that right -- 5 pounds.

A new addition to the LaTolteca menu, the monster torta is made with six eggs, chorizo, milanesa (breaded steak), carne asada, pastor (marinated pork), lettuce, tomatoes, onions, guacamole, and beans.

"It's really a 5-pound torta," said Veronica Cardenas, owner of La Tolteca and inventor of the super-huge sandwich.

She's looking forward to seeing somebody down an entire 5-pound torta and win the $300 prize.

"A lot of people talk about it, so why not?" she said.

The 5-pound torta, which is $13.99, is meant to be a shared item. But to win the contest, and the $300, you not only have to eat it on your own, you have you to do it in five minutes or less.

Ten people will compete for the money and the title "King (or Queen) of the Torta." The first person to finish wins.

The Torta Eating Contest kicks off today at 4 p.m. at La Tolteca, 1205 E. Van Buren Street (corner of 12th and Van Buren streets), Phoenix .
