2 New attractions opening at SeaWorld

PHOENIX – SeaWorld San Diego is launching two new attractions this year, a new killer whale show called One Ocean and an interactive exhibit called Turtle Reef.

SeaWorld animal trainer David Jackson stopped by with a few friends to tell Tara Hitchcock and Scott Pasmore all about the exciting news.

“We’ve got an amazing summer coming up,” Jackson said as he handed Maya the spider monkey off to Hitchcock. “One Ocean is going to leave people feeling so empowered to do stuff for conservation. It’s like a water ballet with the whales, just having fun. It’s something a lot people don’t ever get to see, just them having fun.”

Turtle Reef is a 300,000-gallon aquarium that’s home to several threatened and endangered sea turtles, including 81 baby sea turtles that were born at SeaWorld. The attraction also features interactive games, including one that lets you track turtles in the wild, and a new ride called Riptide Rescue.

In addition to Maya and a pig-nosed turtle, Jackson also brought a couple of SeaWorld’s other animal ambassadors, including Momo, an African porcupine, and veteran “Good Morning! Arizona” guests Pete and Penny, both playful penguins. All of the animal ambassadors are part of SeaWorld’s Animal Connections area and often interact with SeaWorld guests, especially kids.

One Ocean opens May 27. Turtle Reef is slated to open in June.
