Alleged prison break accomplice appears in courtPosted: Updated:
KINGMAN, Ariz. (AP) -- A woman accused of helping three inmates escape from a Kingman prison is scheduled for a change of plea hearing Tuesday.
Casslyn Welch has two separate cases pending in Arizona.
She has pleaded not guilty to felony charges of escape, kidnapping, armed robbery and aggravated assault. She's entered the same plea in a drug case.
A guilty plea in both cases would clear the way for her to be sent to New Mexico, where she's facing murder and carjacking charges in the deaths of an Oklahoma couple.
Authorities say Welch threw cutting tools onto the prison grounds in Kingman last July, allowing the three inmates to break through a perimeter fence and flee into the desert.
The escape sparked a nationwide manhunt. All were captured within weeks.
