MCSO looking to identify suspect in duck shootingPosted: Updated:
GLENDALE, Ariz. - The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office is looking for a suspect who was seen shooting ducks in a video posted online.
The video posted on YouTube in March shows a black male suspect and his girlfriend using food to lure a duck from a pond located near a Glendale apartment.
MCSO has identified the complex asThe San Logos Apartments near the Loop 101 and 59th Avenue.
Once the duck approaches the suspect, the man uses a pellet rifle with a scope to shoot the duck repeated times.
He and a woman, also shown in the video, are then heard laughing loudly.
Animal crime investigators believe the duck eventually died of its wounds.
"Most likely that duck died of infection, starvation, or probably drowned, so the duck didn't survive," said Marisa McHugh, an emergency medical technician with the Arizona Humane Society.
"There have been a number of cases of ducks being victimized by animal abusers," Arpaio said. "The two people in this video are laughing at the pain they inflicted on this bird. With the public’s help, we’ll apprehend, charge and jail this guy and then we’ll see: who’s laughing now."
The Maricopa County Sheriff's Animal Crimes unit is currently asking for the public's help in identifying the suspect.
