Shelton honored for contribution to Tucson film industry

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Tucson's own movie man, honored for his contributions to film in the Old Pueblo.

The Art Institute of Tucson is devoting its entire gallery exhibit to Bob Shelton. Shelton is the former longtime owner of Old Tucson Studios and brought stars such as John Wayne, Paul Newman and Elizabeth Taylor to town to film movies.

"They wanted to use my memorabilia but I knew quite a bit about it, but I'm very surprised.  The way it's going, its wonderful," said Shelton

Shelton's memorabilia includes historic photos, mementos and movie posters from the 1950s to 1980s, during which time more than 300 westerns were made at Old Tucson Studios.
