MESA, Ariz. -- A man is facing burglary charges after police said he broke into garages and vehicles in Mesa early Wednesday morning.

Police officers were called to a home near University Drive and 80th Street at approximately 2:30 a.m. after the resident woke to the sound of his garage door opening.

The homeowner went outside and found his vehicle broken into, his garage door opener missing and the garage open.

An officer stopped a man on a bicycle in a nearby neighborhood and found he had the victim's stolen property, according to Detective Michael Melendez with the Mesa Police Department.

Other officers found two other open garages in the area. Melendez said the suspect, identified as Christopher Loeffler, had a garage door opener and stolen property from those residences.

Two other victims were found by tracing the stolen property in the suspect's possession.

Loeffler was booked for two counts of residential burglary, nine counts of vehicle burglary, possession of burglary tools and two outstanding warrants.
