Oscar winner Natalie Portman takes comedic turn in 'Your Highness'

PHOENIX – Fresh off her Oscar win for best actress for her incredible performance in “Black Swan,” Natalie Portman, who is about to become a mother, has another movies hitting theaters this weekend, and it couldn’t be more different from her turn as a perfection-obsessed ballerina.

She plays the “tough guy” character in the new comedy “Your Highness,” which also stars Danny McBride and James Franco.

“I really love comedies,” Portman said. “This was a just great opportunity to work with some of my favorite people on something I thought was really funny.”

Those who have worked with Portman say she’s really funny in person, which is something many fans might not realize. Still, she doesn’t feel the need to remind people of what she’s like in real life.

“I don’t choose projects because of what I want people to think about me,” she said. “I think it’s more fun to try and do different things all the time because it keeps me more interested. Hopefully that will keep audiences enjoying the movies because it’s not ever the same.”

With her ever-growing belly, Portman managed to look fabulously stylish as she made the rounds of the awards-season red carpets. She gave her stylist, Kate Young, kudos for finding those beautiful fashions.

Portman is due to give birth this summer, and she said she doesn’t want to know if she’s having a boy or a girl.

“The whole thing is such a mystery. You have to sort of respect it,” she said.

“Your Highness” opens Friday.
